Mind Your Own Business

Two children sat together with pencils and paper. The small boy covered his page with his arms. The small girl strained to see inside his arms. "What are you drawing?" she asked when all efforts to see failed. "Mind your own business". he said in an exact mimic of his older brother.

This has a somewhat negative effect on most of us - somewhat offensive. But a week or so ago I found it in the Bible. Fancy the great man Paul telling a few people to mind their own business. Don't believe me? All right find a Bible and look at the back section of the New Testament in a book called 1 Thessalonians - chapter 4 verse 11. I quote, "Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders. " WOW! There it is - mind your own business.

If I mind my own business I can expect respect. Now there is something for the nosy neighbour or the interfering busybody. In fact busybody gets a mention too. In the next book, 2 Thessalonians chapter 3 verse 11 the same Paul says "We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies." Now there you have it. Words work to make a difference. Try it and see if it is true. Let me know if it is not.
